Everyday Mindfulness

In this 1 hour session, (in person or via zoom) we will introduce tangible practices that can invite our best creative selves into the collective. Essential to that practice is cultivating compassion for the parts of us that are not yet our best selves. This in turn creates a sustainable and compassionately creative work environment. Learn to align our internal and external world - taking a peek inside the backpack of weight (internal world) we carry into work (external world) each day.

Welcoming what is.

Practice: Facilitated journaling exercise. What keeps us from being open to each moment? Journaling exercise. How did it feel to welcome parts of our life we were resisting? What do we notice? Group reflection.

Gentleness with ourselves..

Practice: Writing a letter of compassion to our past experiences. Exploration of our earliest memories of learning not to be gentle with ourselves. Individual reflection.

Awakening to what's alive.

Practice: Reflection on what brings us alive. Who are the people, practices and places that bring our true creative selves alive? What in our backpack is no longer necessary? How might we shed some no longer needed dead weight? How might this foster our creativity? Small group discussion.

“We are not capable of being alive in the present moment. We always postpone being alive to the future, we don’t know exactly when. It is possible we will never be truly alive in our entire life…”

-Thich Nhat Hanh
